Northwestern State University is growing rapidly with more new students attending the school and alumni returning home to join the community. With that growth there also needs to be a solution for the choices of food that is provided on campus. Over the last year NSU had added several new places to eat for their students and the latest to come to campus is Steak N Shake.
According to their website, "Steak ‘n Shake was founded in February, 1934 in Normal, Illinois. Gus Belt, Steak ‘n Shake’s founder, pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milk shakes.
For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word “steak” stood for STEAKBURGER. The term “shake” stood for hand-dipped MILK SHAKES."
The Northwestern State community came out to support and eat the delicious sirloin, ribeye and T-bone burgers at the new restaurant. The employees took care of people standing in line with burger and shake samples as they eagerly waited to place their first order. Word quickly spread around campus and the line was out the door. They also had a raffle to win prizes such as a T-shirt, water bottles, and steak burger n fry seasoning, It was a great success for their grand opening.
